Question by Eva D: Baby Einstein refund do you think it is fair that we pay return shipping?
This morning on Good Morning America they made an announcement that they would be given out refunds for baby einstein dvd’s because they made false claims regarding these dvd’s. They also said you could take these dvd’s to your local store wherever you got them and get your refund at the store. But when I took mine in to Walmart they knew nothing about it. I called Baby Einstein and they said they are not responsible for anything Good Morning America says. But don’t you think baby einstein should pay for the shipping. this is a mistake they made.

It’s Disney. Count yourself lucky that’s all they charge. If they took over the LA Times they’d charge a paper.

Why would you return them? And you want shipping on top of it paid? Give me a break. This is a bogus law suit brought from idiots. Im sorry but my son loved the videos and I think they are wonderful. People now days just looking for a free hand out. I think its completely fair you pay shipping. KEEP YOUR DVDS or sell them at a yard sale like most people do with old videos. I am sick that something like this went through our judicial system. I never thought these videos would make my child an Einstein. Maybe I should sue Potty Training Elmo bc he didnt teach my son how to be toilet trained…. GIVE ME A BREAK,,SERIOUSLY!
I agree with the girl above me,,, I never thought for one second that these videos would make my child smarter either,,, however, sadly enough, there are parents who DID believe it,, while it is stupidity on their part, the argument is that Disney advertised these, saying that they would infact make your child smarter “deceptive advertising” To me it is a dumb argument since, I KNOW that some video would never make my child smarter, however it is still false advertisement, and even at walmart if something doesn’t do what it is supposed to do then you can take it back, therefore you should be able to return the videos, because they didnt work, whether you thought they would or not. As far as paying the return shipping,,, I don’t think you should have too, even if it is over something so stupid, if they are coming out and saying ” we lied about this, this is all our fault, we are willing to fix this” then they should pay your return shipping,, thats like a half-ass apology is it not??? But none the less thats how it works,, you have to pay it. It’s like when I bought something off someone on Ebay in Hong Kong, THEY sent the wrong color, but yet I am required to pay return shipping for their mess up? Doesn’t seem fair, but thats life.. However I opened a dispute, and she ended up having to pay my shipping
hehe Hope you get it worked out, me on the other hand, I’m keeping my videos, my daughter still likes to watch them
It doesn’t matter whether your son “loved” them — they have been scientifically proven to not work, to in fact, be BAD FOR CHILDREN. Funny, you’d think all those screeching parents groups would care more about this…. I’m surprised they are simply doing the right thing and giving refunds for bogus claims. It’s recommended by neuroscientists to not let under 2 ages watch ANY TV AT ALL.
It’s weird they’re throwing it back on GMA. The company officially announced the refund.

I wholeheartedly agree with what “Moonpal” said. What is your reasoning for wanting to return them? When you bought them, did you think that, all by themselves, these videos would make your child brilliant? If so, then this was a bad move on your part, not Disney’s. In raising children there are no “quick fixes”, no magic thing that will automatically make my child another Einstein. Only you, the parent, by constantly working with your child can achieve a learning goal. These videos, just like books, are nothing more than a tool to help you teach your child. They are bright, colorful, fun to watch, and yes, when used in conjunction with your daily teaching an entertaining “moving book”. Do you just sit your child down in front of a bookshelf and expect him to suddenly learn how to read simply by osmosis? Of course not. Same with these videos. It is a shame that something as frivolous as this lawsuit has made it into our judicial system.
if you send them by Media Mail, it’s going to cost you at most 3 bucks- what’s the big deal. They are offering $16 refund per DVD, up to 4 DVDs total. I think that’s very fair.
