my son hated it the first time I played it, I put it on 3 weeks later and he started making animal sounds with it and was very taken by it, I would suggest getting them after his reaction!

For entertainment, they might be great but I don’t see the reason why a baby needs to learn things she will learn later anyway without spending the money on videos.
They are worth it…although I don’t know how much “development” kids get out of them. What they are good for is to distract for 30 min while you go do something. My son was completely mesmorized by them as an infant and as a toddler, he does love watching the animal ones and making sounds. I would definitely get one or two, they come in very handy when you think you’re going to lose your mind!
well my son never even liked baby einsteins i think it is a waste of money, just let the little darling what the Little einsteins tv show my son loves that because of the music, my son is developing at a fast rate as well.
My 3 yr old still loves the baby Einstein’s videos.
I don’t know the educational impact of them but she found Beethoven very entertaining. And recognizes Mozart, Beethoven, Vangoah.
I think it helped her vocabulary a good deal.
I highly recommend the Baby Mozart one. All three of my sons have loved this one! The MacDonald Farm one is cute too, but I think it grabs toddlers attention better. The language one never was a big hit with my kids. Baby Mo as my kids called it was a lifesaver, it was the only time I could shower without hearing them be upset!! So out of all of them, I would say go for the Baby Mozart!
Never bought a single one and so far one of our children is in the gifted, and talented program, and it looks as though our second child will be to. The real secret to smart well developed children is to spend as much time with your children as possible when they are little. A stay at home mom is best. Day-cares and nurseries just won’t have the time for the one on one interaction that a young mind needs. My wife stayed at home with all three of our children when they were babies and is still at home now. It has meant a little less money in our budget, but it is definitely worth it.
Why Baby Einstein? Theres so many other great people out there.
I have no idea what the “educational” value of these movies are.
But – I can tell you THEY ARE PRICELESS TO PARENTS when it comes to having a cranky baby who won’t sleep or eat and all you want to do is have a few minutes of peace & quiet.
I think it’s more worthwhile than a baby bouncer or a lot of the other things available today!
Studies have not shown that ANY of the so-called educational videos are really useful at such a young age. However, that hasn’t stopped from recommending these videos to anyone and everyone who would listen. Particularly for single moms, these videos are enthralling, and give you a chance to take a shower, wash some dishes, and all those things that you need to do without interruption. My son loved them. Those videos would calm him when he was upset, make him laugh, and keep him busy.
I will say that you need to pay attention to the age range on the box. It’s pretty accurate. A toddler will still watch Baby Mozart (3 months +), but a infant is not going to be interested in Baby Van Gogh (12 months +) because it’s truly out of his comprehension.
My son loves the videos. He started watching baby mozart when he was 2 months old. He now likes baby macdonald and numbers because of the puppets (he’s now 6 months old). We find that when he is fussy we put a video in and that keeps him occupied. I found the videos like baby mozart or bethoven are the best ones to start off with because the music plays while toys spin or move.
My daughter loves the music and colors. The videos are more foe entertainment than learning at young ages.

actually the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under the age of 2 do not watch TV, it can actually stunt their development because watching TV requires no thinking, they just get facinated by the colors and moving objects. It is a bad habit to start so early so I would save your money or spend it on other things for your baby such as toys.
My son didn’t really get them until about 7 months….then he had one (motzart) that he screemed and giggled whent he puppets came on. then he lost interest again. We tried some videos again at about 14 months and he’s very interested. We have to watch one a day (I use it for getting dinner ready). He’s learning things from it like where his head and toes are and what a dog is, but he still can’t quite say the words, but you can tell he does know what the stuff is. It’s worth it, but not until they are older.
