Question by Insert Original Nickname Here™: Baby Einstein, baby signs?
Has anyone shown their little one this DVD? If so, do you think your child picked up on it at all? My son is 14 months old (12 corrected) and was more into the Baby Mozart and Bach then any of the more age appropriate DVDs.
Please try and keep the “TV is the devil” speeches to yourselves if you’re a mother against TV. Thanks~

My daughter is almost 5 months old, but she got the first signs DVD for christmas. Even though it says 6 mos. + she still watches it, and it’s actually her favorite one out of the 3 that we have.
Time will tell if she actually picks up on any of it, but every now and then we do the signs to her. There is a youtube video of a 1 year old child who knows over 30 signs, it is really amazing.
What do you think? Answer below!

My cousin showed this to her little girl and she picked up on it in days. The only problem she ran into was that she wanted to sign instead of talk.
Babies will learn the signs easier from an actual person than one on the TV screen. Try to interact with him and watch it together, he will probably like that more.
I have used the baby signs DVD with my 17 month old since he was about 5 months old. We stopped when he became more mobile since he didn’t really sit still long enough to watch it. We used it as an aid to baby signing, not as the the only instruction. We used it more or less to just show him that signing was fun. Its really important to be consistent with baby signing. My husband and I would even catch ourselves signing during our conversations when baby wasn’t even around! My son’s first sign was milk (about 2 months after we started teaching him signs), I sat down with him while he was drinking a bottle and opened and close his fist for him and kept saying milk and tapping on his bottle. By the time his bottle was done, he was signing it when prompted. It was about a week before he signed it by himself. I think it was the application that he picked up on more than the DVD.
