Question by jacdmcm: What’s the best “baby signing” program out there?
My mom thinks Baby Einstein is the one and only baby product out there. But I’m wondering if I’m just paying for the name. There has to be something cheaper and just as good out there.

they are all the same. You get what your baby would be interested in.

Use the American sign language one. That way the child will be learning a second language to use for life.
You can get a baby “signing program” for free online…
Baby signing isn’t about programs…it’s about use and repetition. My son is 6 months old and made his first sign (Milk) the other day and he never used a “program”
Baby Einstein is great…but unnecessary for this particular use.
Check out these websites…I also have an easy access little chart with some good first signs to help you remember them to learn at home…if you want it, I can email it.

Good Luck!
Check out the link I attached. I didn’t even buy this book, I just checked it out at the library for a couple weeks, then renewed it so I had it about 6 weeks total. Didn’t spend a cent! And why should I? There’s absolutely no need. I read the book and learned the tactics and the studies that had been done and the methods to use to get them to retain them (like only using 5 signs they don’t know so they’re not overwhemed, and then when the baby picks one up, add another one). And then when I didn’t have the book anymore but I needed to introduce a new sign, I got online and searched for ASL and there were some great webpages that not only described the sign to use, but also had a video pop up where you could actually see someone do that sign. And all for free! My son got really good at using signs, I swear by it for all moms out there. Anyway, you don’t have to spend any money at all if you don’t want to.
Baby signing is not and should not be taught as a “program.” And Baby Einstein sucks…my daughter is 18 months old and signs fluently, though most of the signs she made up or adapted from the ones I tried to teach her. No program will gauge how or what your baby wants to learn..my daughter picks up words/signs as she needs them and only when she is interested. I always reinforce words with signs and try to help her express herself by giving her new signs (angry, sad, tired, etc).
the best “program” is for you to be patient ad encouraging. Good luck!
